ROCKING CHAIRS
14 February – 25 February 2018
Zverevsky Center of the Contemporary Art. Moscow, Novoryazanskaya Street, 29, building 4
Vernissage on February 14, 2018 at 7:00 pm
“Rocking chairs” is the first personal exhibition of Weld Queen, gathered in a single space a series of sculptures created during the last two years. The exposition reveals a very familiar theme of love from an unusual perspective, drawing a parallel between human relationships and the image of an eternal swing.
Swing is a synonym for life, driving the most mysterious and powerful force in the universe – love. Love is diverse and immense; it can not be described in one word, image or action. That is why each sculpture is only a small reflection of an immense love universe.
Each spectator will have the opportunity to get acquainted directly with “Casanova”, the main hero lover of European history, “Madonna”, an idealized woman of perfection that has contained all the beautiful and terrible qualities of the weaker sex, with the “A couple of crazies” – inseparable lovers who realized their lack of freedom from each other and therefore upholding very free views on the surrounding world, and other characters.
The salt of the vernissage will be a welding performance called “IN NATURA” – an ode to the inexhaustible creative potential of Man. Weld Queen, modeling a demiurgic act, using welding in real time, will create his “ideal man”.
Laughter and irony are always topical “neutralizing tools” that allow Weld Queen to avoid unnecessary pathos in a conversation on such a difficult and often extremely intimate topic. The exhibition “Rocking chairs” is a multi-level reflection game, offering each spectator to become a participant in the “drama of world love” and boldly “to rock on the waves” of its exciting action.
